“KEEP FAITH TO THE END”
“. . . If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son and in the Father” (1John 2:24b)
More often than not people had embarked on journeys and forgot their preliminary activities at the boarding park or airport. Sometimes even the prayers offered and they echoed the ‘Amen’ are forgotten just few kilometers from the take off point. Some started as Christians but ended the journey as infidels.
Our beloved Elder John in the text for our meditation this week, urges us to keep what we heard from the beginning of our Christian race. He urges us to remember the preliminaries of our journey which are the foundation, bedrock or benchmark of our faith. “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17).
Listen again to what John says, “If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father”. In other words, our continuing in Jesus Christ and His Father depends on our keeping faith with what we hear to the end - i.e. - what we have heard, believed and practiced from the beginning.
Beloved, as we continue our forty days wilderness journey with Jesus Christ, we are being reminded to remain steadfast and focused to the end. We should not allow our neighbours or circumstances to draw us back or weigh us down. For, to be drawn back or weighed down is to DISCONTINUE WITH JESUS CHRIST and be DISCONNECTED FROM DIVINE COMMONWEALTH.
Keep faith and stay connected.
